Update December 2006

A productive meeting was held at Snetterton Circuit on 14th December 2006. Paul Robertson, Andy Smith and myself represented the 2CV Racing club. Simon Leith looked after Stingray and Pistonhead side of matters. Our potential media partners, Kiss FM [formerly Vibe FM] were also in attendance. Finally with Jamie Hopper [Circuit manager] we welcomed Tristan Harris who is Group Motor Sport Events Manager for the whole of MSV. First indications are that the attendance through Pistonfest 2007 and an event that may be staged by Kiss could increase the size of the event significantly. Simon has several ideas to improve on the size and content of the Stingray village. Some celebrity drivers are already seeking drives for the 2007 event. More on this as the details become firmer.

As per previous years testing will be on the Friday 25th May. We have agreed with MSV to take four 30 minute slots with about one hour to seperate each session. This should permit around 12-13 laps and perhaps even a driver change for each session. Cost for this will be £120 to include the garage. The cost of the race now to be £1600. Last year this cost £1665 with testing/garage. Due to agreements with MSV and the 2CV Racing Club the combined total will be £1720 an increase of £55 or 3.3%. Booking testing at the agreed rate will enable teams to use the garage from Thursday evening for the whole weekend. Without the testing deal those teams will only have garage access from 6pm Saturday.

We have analysed the costs for the last four years of running this event. The race in 2006 saw dramatic increases in a variety of areas. Circuit hire, MSA permits, lighting, timekeepers, medical cover and costs, recovery and BARC fees have all risen. We have discussed the expenditure fees with the chairman of the MSA who felt that they were in line with other clubs.

This years incentive to get your entry in early is again free fuel for the race. All fully paid entries received before 1st March 2007 stand a chance of all race fuel FOC. Saturday qualifying will be at about 5pm. Nightime qualifying should start around 8-8.30. Remember all drivers have to complete this.

Our popular club function on the Friday evening after testing will appear again. This includes a premier charity auction with perhaps a mystery celebrity auctioneer. Food will be available and our guests for the evening will be as normal the marshals.

To register your interest or entry please contact me as normal with as much information as you may have. There is now a special email link on this page.
