Another victory for Roger Lott this time in the Auto Equip Pieces Cup, with co-driver Cameron Ritchie. Richard Dalton was second, and Colin Whitely third - the top three separated by just 6 seconds after 45 minutes of racing.
Graham Harper and Ritchie made up the early running, with a good head-to-head battle for the lead. Ritchie was to claim top spot, which Lott held on to for the remainder of the race. Richard Dalton had to make up for a poor start by team mate Ed Mason, who had dropped from pole position down to 13th place by the end of the first lap.
Zoe Cardell teamed up with father Chris after failing to qualify, and her co-driver Margaret Shrimpton was generously offered a drive with Ainslee Bousfield. Peter Scatchard also failed to qualify, but decided to race anyway until the race organisers realised the mistake and brought him in under a black flag.
Contact between Tim Dodgson and Tim Grey left Dodgson's car with a buckled wing and a smoking tyre. His visit to the pits to repair the damage prompted the rest of the field to come in for their driver changes. Grey gave up his seat for Paul Taylor, then a few minutes later swapped with father Royce for a second drive.
When the dust settled after the changes, Lott held the lead followed by Peter Sparrow and Richard Dalton. Dalton caught and passed Sparrow close to the end of the race, setting a new lap record in the process. He was within a few seconds of Lott before the chequered flag fell, and had the race run its full distance it may have been a different story.
James Grantham and Adrian Peace put up a great performance, finishing in 8th place after starting 19th on the grid. Despite being a lap down, Christian Callander had a great fight with Euan Bowie, the pair driving neck-and-neck for lap after lap. Paul Murphy had less success, retiring in a plume of smoke.
