Sunday morning saw the sunshine appear across the Croix circuit, and the assembled masses took to t-shirts instead of raincoats. Much work had gone on overnight to restore bent wings, change engines or tweak that extra bit of performance out of the cars before the final race of the weekend.
Drivers had expressed caution about the reverse grid for the race, determined by finishing position in the 2 hour race, but the rolling start seemed to make such concerns unfounded.
It was another victory for Dalton and Byatt. They took just 5 laps to cut through the field to take the lead. The Sparrow/Wallace car was not far behind, soon to be joined by the Grey/O'Keefe and Whiteley/Callander cars. Dalton and Byatt were not to be caught, and won the race by a comfortable 27 seconds.
The reverse grid gave a good opportunity for unlikely cars from the 2 hour race to make amends and start from the front. 'Pole' sitters Bousfield and Mason could not keep up the pace however, ending up in 22nd place. It was a different story for Paul Talyor and Tim Grey, who retained fifth place.
More disappointment for the Cowling/Rushton team, as they trailed into the pits with the exhaust hanging from the car. Although it was quickly removed, it took a few moments to persuade them to go out and finish the race!
The best action of the day was the battle for 12th place between Woodley, Woodard and Cardell-Williams, who were scarcely more than a second apart in the second half of the race.
