Transponder Offer - 30/01/2003

Standard transponders, Type DP 260, are now available for £147 inc. carriage and VAT from David Jones of Sports Timing Services. King Dick Tools - a new sponsor for the Club

'We are pleased to announce that Abingdon King Dick, the well known UK tool manufacturer, is supporting our racing series in 2003. They are supplying the 2CV Racing Club with ten mechanics tools sets, each valued at around £50, which will be awarded as prizes during the year. Snetterton to Host 24-Hour 2CV Race in 2003

Spectacular Le Mans-style racing will return to the UK for the first time in nearly a decade when the Snetterton track hosts the annual 24-hour race for competition prepared racing Citroen 2CVs in June, 2003.

 

Season ends with triple-header at Silverstone - 24/11/2002

The 2002 season ended with a superb series of races on Silverstone's National Circuit. Pete Sparrow recovered from a first lap spin to clinch victory from Neil Thompson in the Sprint race. In the one-hour Enduro race, Gary Adnitt & Ainslie Bousfield brought their car home well ahead of a glorious battle for second between Neil Thompson & Neil Savage and Paul Robertson. Sunday's 2CV challenge race saw Sparrow win again, this time in Phil Myatt's car!

 

Sparrow crowned champion- 3/11/2002

Pete Sparrow clinched the 2002 2CVparts.com title at the final round of the Championship at Donington Park.

Adnitt claims another victory at Donington Park - 3/11/2002

Gary Adnitt fought off Pete Sparrow and Mick Storey to claim another victory at Donington Park. Phil Myatt was denied fourth by inches by a flying Wayne Cowling.

 

Sparrow and Adnitt at it again in Anglesey - 15/8/2002

Both race winner Sparrow and Gary Adnitt closed on championship leader Wayne Cowling after he failed to finished in the sprint race. But it was good news for Adnitt and co-driver Anslie Bousfield in the enduro championship as both Sparrow and Cowling dropped out of the race

 

Adnitt wins sprint race but Sparrow fights back to take Enduro at Snetterton - 22/7/2002

Gary Adnitt closed on Championship leader Wayne Cowling by winning round 4 of the sprint championship. Pete Sparrow got his revenge later in the day, having just lost the sprint race by half a car's length to win the 40 minute Enduro race.

 

Near Clean sweep for Adnitt at Silverstone - 24/6/2002

Gary Adnitt won two races at the Silverstone 2CV festival. Adnitt, together with Anslie Bousfield, dominated round three of the Enduro Cup. It was only Graham Wallace on Saturday who stopped the white wash by winning the reverse grid race.

 

Is this the end for Mondello 24 hours? - 21/6/2002

Latest noises coming from Ireland is that 2002 was the last ever Mondello Park 24 hour 2CV race. The 2CV Racing Club with the BARC and the IMRC are now looking at alternative venues, if Mondello is not available next year.

 

ECAS padded to victory at wet Mondello - 6/6/2002

Team ECAS overcame the wet conditions to win at Mondello, even after their car was towed out of the gravel in the early hours of Sunday morning. ECAS finished over a lap ahead of Gadget Racing, with Tete Rouche a few laps back in third. 

 

Gary Adnitt wins Lydden - 12/5/2002

Gary Adnitt drove a dominating race to win the second round of this year's championship. His cause was helped by Pete Sparrow being black flagged for dropping fuel.

 

Rockingham race cancelled - 18/4/2002

Round two of the series has been cancelled due to problems with the track surface at Rockingham. No word yet if or when the meeting will be re-run.

 

First blood to Sparrow! In shortened race at Cadwell - 15/4/2002

Pre season favourite Pete Sparrow didn't have it all his own way in the first sprint race of the year at Cadwell Park. Gary Adnitt chased him across the line, but the race was stopped on lap 4 when Sam Fritchley crashed heavily at the Goose Neck.

 

10 cars at Bruningthorpe pre-season test day - 20/3/2002

The season kicked off with the pre season test at Bruningthorpe test track in Leicestershire. There was a number of new drivers and cars out for the first time. Furthest travelled was Norry Taylor, who brought his car down from Scotland for his daughter Hazel to drive

.

Endurance races at Cadwell and Brands - 1/3/2002

There will be two 15 minute races at Cadwell Park and a 40 min two driver Enduro at Brands Hatch. The first race at Cadwell will count for the sprint championship, and the aggregate times of the two fifteen minute races will count towards the endurance championship. Things are even more complicated at Brands, because after the first fifteen minutes a result will be taken for the sprint championship, and the result of the full 40 minutes will count for the endurance series.

 

Transponder position to be confirmed - 22/2/2002

The technical committee have received their first transponder. The fixing position will be published here next week.

 

Top Endurance racer looking for a Mondello drive - 16/2/2002

The 1988 Le Mans winner,  Andy Wallace and this brothers are looking for a top car to compete in this years Mondello 24 hour 2CV race. The Wallace family has a long history with the event. Brother Graham has competed six times winning twice, while Paul Wallace finished sixth back in 1990.

 

Richard Dalton to sell double Championship winning car - 11/2/2002

Richard Dalton is to sell his famous ECAS racer. The purple machine was built new for the '98 season and went on to win two championships and countless Mondellos. Richard needs the room for his Belgium championship car. But don't think you have seen the last of Mr Dalton, as he will be driving with Pete Sparrow and Tim Dodgson in this years Endurance championship.

 

Transponders required for cars - 7/2/2002

The BARC and BRSCC have made the running of transponders conpolsory for each car in the new season. They are priced at £160 + VAT or £25 + VAT rental for the day.

 

Bruningthorpe test is booked for 23rd March - 21/1/2002

Contact Paul Taylor now if  you are thinking of going. The more cars we get the cheaper the price per car. At the moment it £30 per hour,    here is no limit on drivers, and you don't need a race licence! So get your Mum along for a go!

 

John Paul Wilkinson takes top award at Dinner Dance! - 21/1/2002

2001 Champion picked up the coverted top price in 2CV racing, but he was not the only driver grabbing silverware. Colin Whiteley won the Enduro Cup, Sam Fritchley won the rookie of the year, and Tim Dodgson was awarded the most improved driver of the year trophy. The evening went on long into the night with live music, dancing and plenty of drink! Party photos will be in members only section soon!

 

Huge interest in 2CV racing at Autosport show - 21/1/2002

The 2CV racing club stand was surrounded my F1 and world rally cars, but attracted the crowds. Our plucky drivers braved the hordes at the show manning the stand. Show photos to be added soon!

 

All go at the Autosport show, new series sponsor to be announced - 9/1/2002

2CV Race Club members will be busy this weekend, as they have three 2CV's on display at the Autosport motorsport show at the NEC Birmingham. The show is on from 11th,12th, 13th of January and cost £12.50 to get in. The members will be most happy to answer any inquires at the show. Come on down and see who is sponsoring the series in 2002.

 

Pre season testing planned at Bruntingthorpe - 1/1/2002

The 2CV racing club is planning on having a pre season test at Bruntingthorpe vehiche proving ground in Leicestershire. The date has not been set yet, but will be one of the last weekends in March just before the start of the new season. The day is ideal for running in new engines and blowing away the winters cobwebs! Contact Paul Taylor if you want to go, so we have an idea of numbers.

 

Wallace to return to series in 2002 - 29/12/01

Graham Wallace who raced in the series between 90-94 is planning an attack on the 2002 series. Graham who is an ex 'super one' kart racer and has won Mondello twice in the past, has spent the last few years back in karts and is currently looking for a suitable car for next year.

 

Webmaster retires - 1/12/01

Our beloved Webmaster has retired, and the mouse has now been taken up by our Club Secretary, Paul Taylor. He has spent many a day over the Christmas holidays in his office, and not his normal place down the pub.

 

Whiteley wins Enduro Championship at Silverstone - 25/11/01

Having been racing 2CVs since 1990 Colin Whiteley has finally won a Championship. Sharing his car with David O'keefe, they dominated in a rather wet Silverstone 1 hour race. Paul Taylor and Peter Simpson won the two sprint races.
