Not only do the teams have to travel considerable
distances with their race cars, they also have to be able to work
on the cars in the pits at the race track to tight deadlines.
All aspects have to be covered including
electrical, mechanical and bodywork.
This involves bringing appropriate quantities
of spares and extensive tool kits to the circuit.

For the endurance race, which involves
two drivers, the cars have to be set up to suit both drivers'
requirements and to facilitate a quick change of driver.

An example of the pit work at this meeting was car
28, which was throwing oil out of the gear box due to overheating. This
problem was diagnosed and cured, but the clutch, disc-brakes and engine
had to be thoroughly cleaned to ensure that the car's performance and safety
were not adversely affected.
